Sada Grenier Schumann is an artist and filmmaker who works primarily in video, photography, and installation. Her upbringing in Montana and conservation work in Washington state shaped a physical relationship to Western landscapes that informs her artistic practice. She also draws from an early career in wildlife documentary editing and writers like Rachel Carson and Robin Wall Kimmerer. Schumann’s work explores the ties between water, technology, ecology, and time. Her current interests include slow media and an integrated fieldwork practice. She has collaborated with think-tanks and researchers to bridge data-driven science and the fine arts.
Schumann is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University. Films have been screened at the Seattle Film Festival, WA; Winter Park Film Festival, CO; Hotchkiss Film Festival, Lakeville, CT. Artwork has been exhibited in group exhibitions at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA. She has worked on projects from micro-budget short films to Emmy award-winning documentaries.
